The Joondalup Learning Precinct (JLP) met with local principals at the inaugural round table event of 2012.
The event saw representation from over 40 schools in the JLP catchment area, along with staff members from West Coast Institute of Technology, West Australian Police Academy, Edith Cowan University and the City of Joondalup.
Attendees discussed how partners can work closely together to develop mutually beneficial programs, particularly in the areas of professional development for school teachers, vocational pathways and progression into tertiary and higher education.
Carol Strauss, Principal of Ashdale Secondary College, gave an informative and entertaining presentation on her school, their use of virtual classrooms and the future of education
Group breakout sessions were undertaken with the ECU staff from the Engagement Unit and PQESC Director Mr Tony Lazzara acting as facilitators.
The event finished with a plenary session, where each JLP organisation was able to introduce their organisation and offer support to the attendees, finishing with a question and answer session.
The event was a great success with overwhelming requests for round table events to occur more frequently on a range of topics, including cyber bulling and the control and safety of technological development.
