Faculty of Business and Law student Maeva Heim has recently returned from representing ECU in the national Business Icon 2012 competition.

Based on ‘The Apprentice’ TV show, participants must complete a number of tasks, with eliminations after each round.

Maeva was successful in the first round which required raising $4,000 in 48 hours for Opportunity International Australia, an amount which she exceeded.

On arrival in Melbourne, competitors then had two more tasks before the final, which was held in Federation Square. Maeva was one of only two females that made it to the semi finals.

Judges on the night included executives from L’Oreal Australia, Datacom, Peter Alexander and Rick Hart. Although, Maeva was not the winner, she said it was an amazing opportunity.

“Business Icon was an experience of a life time,” Maeva said.

“I've been able to network with some of Australia's most prominent industry figures as well as previous winners from ECU and extremely talented students from a variety of disciplines and universities.”
