ECU Vice-Chancellor Professor Kerry Cox presents the prize for future justice and leadership, on behalf of Future Justice, to Professor Donna Cross.
Professor Donna Cross has been awarded the Future Justice Prize for future justice leadership and initiative, recognising the significant contributions she has made not only to communities today, but future communities.
The Prize is awarded to Australian individuals or organisations for leadership and initiative in the advancement of future justice, which is concerned with what those living today leave behind for future generations.
Professor Cross is the Foundation Professor at ECU’s Child Health Promotion Research Centre (CHPRC). Her research focus includes bullying (including cyber-bullying), smoking cessation, nutrition and mental health.
ECU Vice-Chancellor Professor Kerry Cox congratulated Professor Cross on the award.
“The prize is further recognition of Professor Cross’s important contributions to the health of our communities,” Professor Cox said.
“The research we conduct at ECU is not just concerned with making a positive impact today, but also contributing to a more prosperous, sustainable society in the years to come.”
Professor Cross is the WA Australian of the Year for 2012. She was also previously a finalist in the 2011 WA Citizen of the Year Awards.
