Edith Cowan University Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Health Advancement) Professor Cobie Rudd discusses the use of simulation based health training versus traditional clinical placement training.

The research investigates ways in which simulation can be integrated into the student experience in health education at a tertiary level.

Professor Rudd is leading an Australian-based study in collaboration with the US, where students undertake varying levels of simulation-based training as part of their education; this research which will inform larger studies in the area.

As well, she is leading a Collaborative Research Network project with the University of Queensland, University of Western Australia and University of Melbourne that includes investigating the educational approaches required for interprofessional learning, work-based learning and learning through simulation.
