Jamie’s Ministry of Food Mobile Kitchen has opened its doors on ECU’s Joondalup Campus.

The community based cooking program will teach Jamie’s hints, tips and basic home cooking skills to students, families and community groups in 90 minute cooking classes over seven weeks.

“The number one killer in Australia right now is diet related disease and Western Australia has the second highest proportion of overweight people in the country,” Jamie Oliver said in a video message at the launch.

“This program is so badly needed. So a massive thank you to Edith Cowan University who have partnered up with the Good Foundation to bring this much needed program to Western Australia.”

As part of ECU’s three year partnership, the mobile kitchen will visit the Joondalup and South West Campuses in addition to other sites in WA.

The partnership will also provide valuable internship and research opportunities for students and staff.

Classes cost $20 per session, or just $15 for student card holders and $10 for concession. Bookings can be made via the Jamie's Ministry of Food website.
