If you’re going to university you’d be crazy not to investigate which scholarships are available to you, says ECU Speech Pathology student Natasha Cross.
It was through her high school that Natasha heard about the ECU Excellence scholarship, worth $4000 for each year of full time study.
“It was an online application, which was pretty easy to fill out so I thought ‘why not’ and gave it a shot,” she said.
“The scholarship has allowed me to work less hours a week which gives me the time to participate in more university activities, like the Guild Club and serving as a third-year representative for the Speech Pathology Community.”
Natasha, who is in her fourth and final year of her studies, said the scholarship had helped her achieve her academic goals.
“We do a lot of hands on practical placements throughout the course. Having the scholarship has enabled me to put the time and effort in to my studies to help me get the results I wanted.”
“So if you’re thinking of applying for a scholarship don’t be afraid. The worst that can happen is that you don’t get it. But you might just be successful which will make your university journey a whole lot easier,” she said.
ECU offers a range of scholarships to support its students to reach their full potential. They are available to a variety of students, including high academic achievers, students from low socio-economic backgrounds or rural and regional areas Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students, and to students with disabilities.
Scholarships can be used to cover the costs associated with university, including text books, travel and other study expenses.
