Years of hard work have paid off for Maida Vale resident Janessa Kennington, who has won an Edith Cowan University (ECU) Excellence Scholarship.
Janessa is one of 16 scholarship recipients who achieved a Tertiary Entrance Rank of 90 or higher, and nominated an ECU course as their first preference.
Valued at $2,000 per semester of full-time study, an ECU Excellence Scholarship is aimed at Year 12 graduates who have displayed outstanding academic excellence and endeavour.
“The scholarship will not only assist me financially, but will motivate me to continue to strive for academic success at University,” said Janessa.
“It’s a great feeling to be acknowledged for all of my hard work, and to know that the years I spent studying at Kalamunda Senior High School have really paid off,” she said.
Janessa will commence the Bachelor of Education, specialising in primary school teaching, later this month.
ECU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kerry Cox congratulated the scholarship recipients and said he was pleased they had chosen ECU.
“It is important to recognise the outstanding achievements of both current and new students. The Excellence Scholarship will give these students a strong start to their university careers, and we look forward to welcoming them to ECU,” he said.
