MultiCultural Day 2006 - 3rd - 7th October!!!

What is Multicultural Day? It is a day where students congregate while mingling and exposing themselves to many cultures of the world. ECU international enrolments exceed 3,000 with students originating from more than 80 countries. This year's theme: Unity, Diversity & Convergence, hopes to bring all these differing cultures together in the hope of bridging the gap between international students themselves and to reach out to local Australian students.

What other goodies can we expect from Multicultural Day? Well, for starters, entrance is free. Expect a wicked time with food and performances, fancy dress contest and enjoy the Music of the World atmosphere.

28 March, 2004 - Fozzil's Report on NLC Intervarsity Game (Soccer)

The ECU A team put up an excellent performance in the inter-varsity mixed 7's soccer challenge yesterday, when they clinched the runner-up position in the tournament, held to earn them the silver medal.

It was a hard fought tournament, as all the participating universities in WA showed seriousness and competitive spirit, to win the title, which ECU had retained the year before. This time around, the boys and girls from both ECU A and ECU B did the uni proud again, when both qualified to the semi-finals. The only setback was that both teams were drawn against each other in the semi-final, meaning one of the two teams had to go out of the tournament. It was a nail biting, end-to-soccer, and ECU A finally prevailed, winning the game 3-0.

The final proved to be a heart-stomping one, as both ECU A and Notredame University showed true grit and determination to capture the title. in the end, ECU A narrowly missed the title when they lost the final 2-1.

Netherless, it was a fabulous performance by both the ECU A and ECU B. And it was a truly memorable day ECU joondalup soccer field, seeing the the supporters from all participating unis, cheering, socialising and developing strong camaraderie, making the event a fun and exciting one.
Too bad for those of you who chose to stay at home!! :)

3 cheers to the both the ECU teams!!
3 cheers to the supporters who turned up for the event!!
3 cheers to the volunteers who worked hard and made it happen!!

Did you know?

Revenue from international students exceeded $25 million in 2002, a 79% increase from 1996 figures.

That's about 63% of the fees and charges revenue from our tuition fees alone, and makes up about 11% of ECU's 2002 total revenue.

International students make up approximately 15% of the 21,000 strong student population at ECU.

This year is ECUISC's 13th birthday. Any ideas for a celebration in September during our AGM? Send them to ecuisc@ecu.edu.au
