Childhood Aggression Prevention (CAP) Project
Addressing early childhood aggressive behaviour to combat later stage health ramifications
Although many of the health ramifications of aggression are not experienced until adolescence or adulthood, developmental pathways to such outcomes are in place by early childhood. Interventions to limit social and psychological problems associated with aggression and violence increasingly are targeting children at a younger age. The CAP Project targets Pre-Primary and Year 1 children and will support reduced aggression and increased pro-social behaviours amongst early-schoolage children, and may have a long term potential to limit later bullying and victimisation problems in Western Australia. The intervention is currently being tested through a randomised control trial in 24 government schools in the Metropolitan Perth region.
