MicroPhotonics-based Smart Antenna Beamformer

Applications

Broadband wireless communication networks , Anti-jamming Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) systems, Wireless capsule endoscopy, Square Kilometre Array (SKA), Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), Car navigation systems, Indoor multimedia transmission systems.

IP status

Provisional patent was filed in 2003, but not renewed. Several papers on the architecture have been published.

Current status

Simulation has been conducted. The beamformer is designed to operate at centre frequency of 5.6 GHz with 1 GHz bandwidth. Proof-of-concept system demonstration is being carried out.
