ECU Mount Lawley Professor Mark Balnaves, Chair of New Media in the School of Communication Arts, has been elected as a Custodian of the Communications Policy Research Forum.

The Forum is an annual event where leading government, industry and academic experts in media and telecommunications come together to report on major developments.

Its interest areas include ICT, digital media, telecommunications broadcasting, communications culture, Internet and e-commerce. It is a research-oriented forum and a co-operative effort by policy and research centres.

The Forum has a long history and has a reputation for independence and diversity. The role of the Custodians is to underwrite this independence and diversity.

"It is an honour and a privilege to join the Custodians," Professor Balnaves said.
Any staff or students interested in or working in communications policy are encouraged to present refereed papers at this year's Forum.

The next Forum is 19 November to 20 November 2009 at University of Technology, Law School, Sydney. Feel free to contact Mark for more information.
