The Hon. Barry House MLC and Chief Scientist Professor Lyn Beazley visit ECU

The Honourable Barry House MLC, Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer, Mr Paul Mercer, General Manager of the Department of Commerce and Chief Scientist of WA Professor Lyn Beazley visited several research facilities at ECU's Joondalup Campus last week.

Mr House, Mr Mercer and Professor Beazley were welcomed by Vice-Chancellor Professor Kerry Cox before a tour led by Dr Marcia Taylor, Director of the Office of Research and Innovation and Ms Linda Penny, Manager of Research Services.

Mr House, Mr Mercer and Professor Beazley met with Professor Ralph Martins for a tour of the Centre of Excellence for Alzheimer's Disease Research and Care.

The group then toured the Vario Health Institute with Professor Rob Newton before visiting the Centre of Excellence for Microphotonics Systems led by Professor Kamal Alameh.

In the afternoon, discussions continued at a lunch hosted by Professor John Finlay-Jones, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and Vice-President at Joondalup Resort.

Mr House was very impressed with the world-class research undertaken at ECU and Professor Beazley said the visit was very inspiring.
