Thursday, 23 August 2012
ECU researcher Sarah Barbas is conducting a new study investigating how mothers and fathers cope following marital or defacto separation.
By interviewing individuals from a range of backgrounds, Ms Barbas hopes to gain an understanding of how mothers and fathers overcome the adversity of separation to go on to lead happy and healthy lives for both themselves and their children.
The research will assist in formulating programs and strategies aimed at helping other mothers, fathers and their children who are faced with such an experience.
Ms Barbas is currently seeking participants for the study. To take part you need to be:
- Over 18 years of age;
- Separated from your partner, wife or husband within the past two years; and
- Have at least one child less than 17 years of age.
If you are interested in taking part, or require any further information contact Sarah Barbas or phone 0439 936 277.
This study has been approved by the Edith Cowan Human Research Ethics Committee. All interview information will be treated as strictly confidential. Participation is entirely voluntary and you may withdraw from the study at any time.
