National Networked Tele-Test Facility for Integrated Systems

"...integrating research and development in a range of new device technologies and providing access to state-of-the-art testing facilities to enable the Australian electronics and microelectronics industries to develop competitive products."

The National Networked Tele-Test Facility (NNTTF) was established through the Australian Government's Major National Research Facilities Program and the WA Governments Centres of Excellence in Science and Innovation Program.

The NNTTF is based on a state-of-the-art semiconductor tester located at ECU which operates as a virtual centre spanning Australia. Testing nodes are located in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. The Facility provides vital equipment to take Australia to the frontier of critical and expanding fields in microelectronics research.

The NNTTF offers a capability for the electronics and microelectronics researcher and industry community throughout Australia to test and prototype very large scale integrated (VLSI) circuits and other systems on a chip (SOC) devices, before moving to the manufacturing stage. Such testing is essential to ensure the device performs to specification.

Australian companies can test devices locally, removing the risk of intellectual property leakage by sending devices overseas. The Facility operates through a web-based network, providing access on a nation-wide basis and allowing users to control the chip test over the network.

Services include:

  • Prototype testing and verification of digital, mixed-signal, high-speed and emerging technologies
  • Device characterisation and temperature-controlled testing
  • Real-time digital intellectual property validation
  • Support for seamless transition of new IP development to volume production
  • An on-FPGA remote IP validation solution to allow real-time complex IP validation on the tester.
