ECU’s Office of Research and Innovation hosted an afternoon tea to officially launch the start of Research Week 2010 on Monday, 16 August.
Launched by Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kerry Cox, the event bought together ECU staff, students and current and future researchers and discussed the importance of promoting and sharing the University’s research knowledge and inspirations.
Special guest, WA Chief Scientist, Professor Lyn Beazley, complimented research at ECU, saying all ECU’s research is undertaken with a view to making a difference to not only the local community but also the state, the nation and the world.
Professor Cox said the difference between a tertiary institute and a university is that a university undertakes research.
“We strive to make a difference and develop people’s abilities and interests to help them become a more complete researcher.”
Research Week 2010 is held from 16 – 20 August at both the Joondalup and Mount Lawley campuses.
