City of Joondalup Youth Award - Tertiary Education

The City of Joondalup Youth Award - Tertiary Education is open to under 25 year old 2nd or 3rd year students, who reside in one of the suburbs within the City of Joondalup catchment area and are studying a relevant course to future employment within local government. The Award intends to help lessen the student debt by providing funds to assist with course fees as well as offer practical work experience. The Award offers $5,000 ($2,500 in semester 1 and 2) towards your tuition fees. The Award also includes the opportunity to begin a career in a local government department, by completing a paid work placement with the City of Joondalup for up to twelve (12) weeks.

Eligibility guidelines

To be eligible for this award you must:

  • be 18 to 25 years of age at the time of application;
  • reside in the City of Joondalup catchment area:
    • Beldon, Burns Beach, Connolly, Craigie, Currambine, Duncraig, Edgewater, Greenwood, Heathridge, Hillarys, Iluka, Joondalup, Kallaroo, Kingsley, Kinross, Marmion, Mullaloo, Ocean Reef, Padbury, Sorrento, Warwick and Woodvale (part).
  • be an Australian citizen, or Australian permanent resident;
  • be studying a course relevant to future employment within local government;
  • be studying full-time and on-campus;
  • be enrolled in the 2nd or 3rd year of their course:
    • having completed a minimum of 120 credit points in their current course: and
    • with 120 credit points or more required to complete their current course.
  • have maintained an academic status of good standing at the end of each semester (as defined in the ECU handbook).

How to apply

  • Complete the Scholarship Application (DOC) or Scholarship Application (ELECTRONIC) form.
  • Include a covering letter outlining why you are are a suitable candidate for the award.
  • Include a letter of support from an ECU University lecturer, tutor, or course coordinator.
  • Include a copy of your resume.

About the scholarship

The Award includes the opportunity to begin a career in a local government department, by completing a paid work placement with the City of Joondalup for up to twelve (12) weeks.

This placement can be either full time or part time and negotiated with the City to accommodate the recipients study commitments.
