Nursing & Allied Health: Rural & Remote Clinical Placement Scholarship
Scholarship Applications for the NAHSSS Allied Health, Clinical Placement Scholarships are now open to Allied Health and Oral Health students to undertake a clinical placement in a rural or remote Australian community during their degree.

Eligibility requirements
Eligible nursing professions:
- Registered nurse
- Enrolled nurse
- Midwife
- Nurse Practitioners
Nationality:
- Australian citizen
- Australian permanent resident
Scholarship information:
Applicants must be enrolled as a full-time or part-time student in an accredited/approved Australian eligible allied health course.
- Applicants must not be in receipt of another scholarship, bursary or grant for the same Clinical Placement (only the NAHSSS Undergraduate and Post Graduate Clinical Psychology scholarships are exempted)
- Applicants must undertake clinical placements (minimum 1 week to maximum 6 weeks) between 1 January 2013 to 31 December 2013 (or relevant calendar year period) in Australian rural communities)
- Placements must be undertaken away from the university town
- Applicants must comply with the requirements of the clinical placement organization
- Entry level (1st year) undergraduates are NOT considered under this scheme
- Nursing, pharmacy, public health or medical students are not eligible for NAHSSS: Allied Health Clinical Placement
This scholarship is awarded once only during a student's course of study.
Priority is given to students undertaking a clinical placement in an Australian community with an AGSC-RA rating of 2-5. To check the ASGC-RA rating for any Australian community go to the DoctorConnect website and click on 'Search the Map', type in your location to obtain the rural classification of your preferred location.

The NAHSSS: Allied Health Clinical Placement is open to individuals studying a degree in:
- Aboriginal Health Worker (Cert IV and above only)
- Audiology
- Chiropractic
- Dental & oral health: includes Dentistry, Dental Hygiene, Dental Prosthetics
- Dietetics & nutrition
- Exercise physiology (AAESS approved only)
- Genetic counselling (Post-graduate study only)
- Medical radiation science:

- Medical Imaging
- Nuclear Medicine Technology
- Radiation Therapy
- Occupational therapy
- Optometry
- Orthoptics
- Osteopathy
- Paramedics
- Physiotherapy
- Podiatry
- Prosthetics and Orthotics
- Psychology*
- Social work (AASW approved courses only)
- Speech pathology
- Sonography
* Psychology students must be enrolled in Honours, Postgraduate and Clinical Psychology study level to be eligible.
NOTE: If your profession is not listed here you are NOT eligible to apply for this scholarship.
Payment information:
Scholarship allowances of up to $11,000 are available for eligible clinical placements in approved/accredited disciplines for placements between 1 January 2013 to 31 December 2013 (or relevant calendar year period.
There are four separate payment types available for clinical placement scholarships. The Administrator will provide payment towards the cost of travel and accommodation (if appropriate) and general expenses for up to maximum 6 weeks placement.
