Zonta Club of Peel Education Award 2012

Zonta is a global service organisation of executives and professionals working together to advance the status of women through service and advocacy. The Zonta Club of Peel Inc offers an award for Tertiary Studies at a Western Australian University. The aim of this award is to encourage a woman to complete her first degree. The award is co-sponsored by the City of Mandurah and is open for applications from students who have been a resident in the Peel Region for two or more years and have successfully completed at least one year of a degree.

Amount: $1500
Frequency: Once only


Eligibility requirements

Eligibility criteria:

Students are eligible to apply who

  • Have been resident in the Peel Region for two or more years
  • Are studying for their first degree
  • Have successfully completed at least one year of a degree
  • Do not hold a scholarship, or other monetary award for current degree (Centrelink payments allowable)
  • Are able to demonstrate need of financial assistance
  • Can provide the names and contact details of at least two referees

Nationality:

  • Australian citizen

Level of study:

  • UG - Undergraduate bachelor degree course

Year of study:

  • 2nd year
  • 3rd year
  • 4th year

Faculty:

  • Any

Applicant information:

The award is for $1500 and is co-sponsored by the City of Mandurah.

  • The money is to be put towards study for a recognized degree at a WA University
  • The successful applicant must provide evidence of a satisfactory completion of the previous year's university course, and show enrolment in the next academic year
  • Applicants must be available for a personal interview during February
  • The successful applicant must be available to receive her award at the Zonta Clubs International Women's Breakfast on or near 8th March
  • There is an expectation that the Award recipient will present a report at the end of the academic year to the Zonta Club of Peel

Selection:

The applicants will be short listed and will be interviewed by a panel of at least two members of the Zonta Club of Peel. Other factors such as, extracurricular activities and community contribution will also be taken into consideration by the selection panel.
