The objective of the Commonwealth Scholarships (CS) Program is to facilitate choice in higher education and to increase higher education participation for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students. The Indigenous Access Scholarship (IAS) is aimed to assist Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students, commencing university studies for the first time, to undertake an eligible enabling course, undergraduate course or Graduate Diploma (or equivalent postgraduate course of study) in an area of National Priority required for initial registration to practice in the chosen National Priority (e.g. Graduate Diploma of Education).

Nomination closing date: 4 March 2016
Frequency: 50% ($2411.50) following acceptance of scholarship offer, further 50% ($2411.50) payment made following ongoing eligibility checks after student's first census date
