Indigenous Access Scholarship
The objective of the Commonwealth Scholarships (CS) Program is to facilitate choice in higher education and to increase higher education participation for Indigenous students. The Indigenous Access Scholarship (IAS) is aimed to assist Indigenous students, commencing university studies for the first time, to undertake an eligible enabling course, undergraduate course or Graduate Diploma (or equivalent postgraduate course of study) in an area of National Priority required for initial registration to practice in the chosen National Priority (e.g. Graduate Diploma of Education).

Nomination closing date: 31 December 2013
Payments
Amount: $4659
Frequency: 50% following acceptance of scholarship offer, further 50% payment made following ongoing eligibility checks after student's first census date

Eligibility requirements
Eligibility criteria:
- Indigenous - Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
- Financial hardship or low socio-economic (usually demonstrated by being in receipt of a means-tested Centrelink allowance)
- Must not have previously received payment of an IAS in part or whole
- Must meet all criteria as per the Commonwealth Scholarship Guidelines for 2010
