City of Joondalup "Focussing on the Future" ECU Award
The City of Joondalup "Focussing on the Future" ECU Award 2013 is open to under 25 year old 2nd year students, who live within the City of Joondalup boundaries and are studying a relevant course to future employment within local government. The Award intends to help lessen the student debt by providing funds to assist with course fees as well as offer practical work experience.
The Award includes the opportunity to begin a career in a local government department, by completing a paid work placement with the City of Joondalup for up to twelve (12) weeks.

Payments
Amount: $5000
Frequency: $2500 in semester one and two following the semester census date
Method: Tuition fee credit
Eligibility requirements
Eligibility criteria:
- Applicants must be 18 to 25 years of age at the time of application
- Academic Merit
- Must reside in the City of Joondalup catchment area
- Must be studying a relevant course to future employment within local government
Nationality:
- Australian citizen
- Australian permanent resident
Level of study:
- Undergraduate bachelor courses
Year of study:
- 2nd year
Study mode:
- Full-time on-campus
Applicant information:
Applicants will be required to provide a descriptive statement (1000 words approx) outlining:
- What your career aspirations are
- What your perception on the role of local government is
- What you would like to achieve out of your placement with the City of Joondalup
- Which City of Joondalup Business Unit you feel best fits with your course and why
And attach the following to their application:
- Letter of support from a lecturer, tutor, or course coordinator
- Copy of resume
