ECU gets ‘eco’

Tuesday, 28 September 2010

The Faculty of Business and Law is proud to be a Gold Sponsor for the City of Wanneroo EcoVision Demonstration Home Project.

With rapid growth and rising costs of living, combined with a concern for the environment, the City of Wanneroo community is looking for affordable solutions to living more sustainably.

The EcoVision Wanneroo Demonstration Home Project will offer the community practical and innovative ideas to save energy, use water efficiently and minimize impacts on the environment.

In partnership with Cedar Woods, the City of Wanneroo has commenced stage one of construction, laying the slabs for each of the two environmentally friendly and affordable demonstration homes in Tapping.

The interior design for the homes has now been finalised, using earthy tones to compliment the eco-friendly design of the home and the surrounding ‘water wise’ garden.

Due for completion in February 2011, the display homes will be open for up to two years.

The Centre for Planning at ECU has been involved with the project since its inception, with Professor Geoff Syme a member of the Technical Reference Group.
