Background

Diane commenced employment at ECU in February 2010 and was engaged as a Learning Advisor to provide support to teaching staff within the School of Accounting, Finance and Economics. She completed a comprehensive review of the Master of Professional Accounting program and developed an ‘Employability Skills Framework’ to facilitate the integration of generic skills throughout the program. The implementation and evaluation of the project is scheduled for completion at the end of 2012. In addition to her advisory role, Diane is also involved in teaching accounting at undergraduate level.

Prior to joining ECU, Diane accumulated extensive experience as a lecturer, corporate trainer, business owner and accountant. Diane’s career as a small business owner has provided her with excellent hands-on experience in the demands of operational management and one of her key assets is her ability to combine technical competence with excellent communication skills. Diane has a well established insight into instructional design, the development of learning materials, and relevant assessment tools.

  • Accounting and business education

Current research area:

  • Determining best practice in integrating employability skills in undergraduate and postgraduate business programs.
  • Implementing a framework for embedding academic and generic skills in a postgraduate accounting program.
