Current School of Arts and Humanities, Visual Arts student and emerging print-maker Rebecca Jensen has been nominated for the prestigious Community Invitation Art Award. Rebecca will have the opportunity to exhibit up to three works alongside other professional artists, all of whom have been handpicked from hundreds of entries across Western Australia.
The artistic works selected for the Community Invitation Art Award will celebrate a variety of different disciplines including painting, photography, sculpture and installation and will be on display Sunday, 16 - Saturday, 29 October at the Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City.
Rebecca continues to prove herself as an emerging artist to watch having had her work “For Those Who've Come Across the Seas” selected to be in HATCHED 2016 at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA).
Her installation, comprised of individually hand embossed pages, was featured at last year’s School of Arts and Humanities Graduate Exhibition Show “Transit Lounge”, and is currently on display from Saturday, 14 May – Sunday, 17 July 2016 at PICA, located in the Perth Cultural Centre.
Rebecca’s work, which is primarily print based, is described as a form of social activism to provoke conversation about aggressive nationalism and racial intolerance.
