Frame to reframe: Leading research into the use of cartooning and visual narrative to improve the social health of young people

This project will establish an international and interdisciplinary collaboration to situate cartooning in the context of health communication scholarship and provide a venue for piloting new data collection techniques based on cartooning in projects of Australian child/adolescent health researchers. The project collaborators will explore experimental visual and narrative data collection in health and health communications research using cartooning and graphic facilitation methods. The proposed three-node research network will link comics scholars from the British Consortium of Comics Scholars to an existing European health communication research collaborative (HealthNar) to child and adolescent health researchers at Perth’s renowned Telethon Kids’ Institute
