ECU and the Australasian Correctional Education Association (ACEA) are co-hosting a half-day forum on different aspects of education and training in prisons on Friday 29 September. Research at ECU, as well as nationally and internationally, shows that educating and training prisoners can generate a significant return on investment by reducing costly recidivism and improving life outcomes for ex-prisoners. This forum will showcase some of the current research in this area.
Speakers include Mr Ray Chavez from WA Department of Justice and, from ECU, Dr Natalie Gately, Dr Cath Ferguson and Dr Ann-Claire Larsen. The keynote address will be given by Jan-Erik Sandlie, Deputy Director-General for the Directorate of Norwegian Correctional Service, who will also be addressing the October ACEA Conference in Canberra.
