Researcher and Senior Lecturer, Dr Abhay Singh has had his first book as lead author published alongside Professor David Allen titled, R in Finance & Economics: A Beginner’s Guide.

Having published over 50 articles together, Professor David Allen (adjunct Professor at Sydney University, the University of South Australia and ECU) and Dr Abhay Singh have spent over two years collaborating and co-authoring the book.

Published in February this year, R in Finance & Economics: A Beginner’s Guide, is designed as an easily accessible and useful practical guide to getting started with the statistical software tool R for applications in Finance and Economics and is relevant to both students and researchers.

Dr Singh says the book includes examples and applications of econometric and statistical analysis techniques to central methods in economics and finance.

“R is widely used by statisticians, academic researchers, data miners and industry practitioners for data analysis, research and software development.”

“We’ve also included research into the latest methods in finance and economics, including linear regression, quantile regression, panel regression and econometrics.”

The book will help a range of readers from beginners to intermediate R users to write R scripts (and programs) for research tasks in finance and economics.
