Dr Ying Wang

Background

Dr Ying Wang is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Tourism, Sport and Hotel Management, Griffith University. She has published in peer reviewed journals and edited books, such as Annals of Tourism Research, Journal of Travel Research, and Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research. Ying’s fields of research expertise include destination/hotel management and marketing, sustainable business practices, travel technologies, and Chinese tourism. Her current research projects include customer perceptions and experience with various trip and destination components, customer responses to tourism and hospitality marketing stimulus, eye-tracking methodology, human resource and performance management in hotels. Her research uses a variety of methods, ranging from qualitative methods of interviews, participant observation, focus groups, analysis of social media data (e.g., travel blogs and tweets) to the quantitative methods of time series analysis, survey, and experimental design. She has participated in several research projects funded by Griffith University and external bodies. Prior to academia, she worked in business and hotel sectors in China.

She is an editorial board member for the Journal of Travel Research, and acts as an ad hoc reviewer for reputable academic journals such as International Journal of Hospitality Management, Tourism Management, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research, among others.
