Evaluating and Tracking the Higher Degree by Research Experience

Developing a systematic process for evaluating and tracking the Higher Degree by Research experience to enhance graduate employment outcomes

The project focuses on evaluating and developing strategies for enhancing the employment outcomes of the Faculty of Business and Law’s Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students.

Research questions

  • To evaluate the employment trends in FBL HDR graduates and identify those factors influencing employment outcomes.
  • To develop a systematic process for evaluating the HDR experience to manipulate influential factors and enhance FBL HDR graduate employment outcomes.

Research methods

HDR graduate employment trends will be examined by quantitative analysis of the postgraduate research experience questionnaire data at a national, institutional and Faculty level. This will identify factors influencing employment outcomes nationally, providing an insight into what constitutes employability in HDR graduates.

Findings will be used to construct the evaluative criteria for a systematic process of tracking HDR learning experiences to ensure FBL is accounting for those practices and policies which influence graduate employment outcomes.
