"Some of us have large families. Some decide on the polar opposite. Many desire a family but struggle to conceive. Today families are often blended. Regardless of the circumstances, the Mother word and many other M words shape and defines our identity. This exhibition examines the emotions of love, loss, grief and joy associated with those M words … martyr … maniac … mammary … moment … mad ... measure ... matriarch ... maven ... mesmerise ... materiality ..."
Throughout the creative process, both artists have been collaborating, exploring and responding to conversations surrounding ‘the M word…’.
Dr Lyndall Adams, Creative Practice Research Student Supervisor and Faculty of Education and Arts Research Consultant, has been interviewed for the Weekly Life section of the Western Suburbs Weekly newspaper about her upcoming art exhibition. Together with Brooke Zeligman, School of Communications and Arts PhD Candidate, their exhibition will include Lyndall’s stunning oil paints on linen, and Brooke’s beautiful sculptures of glass breasts and a glass high chair.
The M Word event begins with artist floor talks at 5.30pm, followed by the opening night from 6.30-8.30pm, which will be opened by Dr Lekkie Hopkins of the School of Psychology and Social Science, ECU.
