ECU graduate shines on national art scene

Friday, 18 February 2011

Congratulations to Visual Arts graduate, Stephen Nova, who recently opened a new art exhibition in Melbourne, entitled Inception, which showcases his latest work.

Graduating from ECU in 1994 with honours, Stephen has led an exciting and diverse career, with solo exhibitions in Perth and Melbourne and work displayed internationally at both the Seychelles Consulate in New York and the Troy Resources building in London.

His work is also displayed in a number of buildings in Perth, including King Edward Memorial Hospital, the Swan Brewery Apartments and the GIO building in the Perth CBD.

Mr Nova believes his latest work is a reflective collection that encourages visitors to bring their own journey and create their own narrative behind the pieces.

“As the title of the exhibition may suggest, the work acknowledges the development of pictorial space and the historical foundations of perspective which began to emerge during the Italian Renaissance,” said Mr Nova.

“As a result, I hope to have created work that contains a type of meditative space, to act as a vehicle to explore the ideas of time and space, movement and change, memories and dreams.”

For more information on his work, and to view pieces from the current exhibition, visit the Mossgreen Gallery website.
