Educating for Innovation
Monday, 28 February 2011
ECU, in conjunction with the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA); Rio Tinto; The Commissioner for Children and Young People and the Perth International Arts Festival, is pleased to host the Educating for Innovation Seminar, with guest speaker for the Tate UK, Ms Anna Cutler.
Tate is an influential presence in the British Art Scene, with four galleries across Britain and also holds the responsibility for housing the national collections of British and international art from the 1900s onwards.
Ms Cutler was appointed as Tate’s first ever Director of Learning in 2010 and will discuss the institution’s commitment to learning, particularly their work with children, schools and young people.
She will also discuss a future vision for a Tate-wide approach to art engagement which emphasises new contexts for learning and ways of looking at art.
Other guest speakers will include Commissioner for Children and Young People WA, Ms Michelle Scott; Principal of Roseworth Primary School, Mr Geoff Metcalf and Postdoctoral Fellow from CREATEC at ECU, Dr Julie Robson.
This event is a wonderful opportunity to learn how contemporary arts-led programs encourage innovation in children and young people from a well recognised international expert.
