Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition

Monday, 20 June 2011

The 3MT is a research communication competition where HDR students have 3 minutes to present their research and its significance to captivate, entertain and educate an intelligent but non-specialist audience. If you are an active PhD, Master by Research or Professional Doctorate candidate then don’t miss the opportunity to take part. Registrations close on the 1st June 2011.

To enter, visit the Research Week website. Compete for prizes of up to $1,500 during Research Week 15-19th August 2011. The winner will represent ECU at the 3MT Final at the University of Western Australia on the 29th September 2011 and will be in with the chance to win $5,000! You can watch presentations from the 2010 3MT winner, Jeremy Rice (ECU) and presentation from the Australasian winner, Barlaka Banerjee (UWA).

The Graduate School will be conducting information sessions in preparation for 3MT. All entrants will also receive a thumb-drive crammed with great advice on punchy presentations. If you can crystallise your years of intense study into three minutes, there isn’t a grant you can’t get or a job you can’t secure!
