Please join us on the 9th of October for the opening of 'Immediacy' an exhibition by Pat Thomas and the culmination of her PhD studies in Communications and Arts at Edith Cowan University.

'Immediacy' references media imagery and text contesting and interrogating dominant ideologies in contemporary mainstream news media both print and digital, exploring the technologies associated with each one.

Thomas works through print media interrogating the repetition of images and stories in mainstream news media in order to create an alternative, counter effect.

The slow, involved, considered process of traditional printmaking contrasts with the immediacy the digital media, however in her practice she ruptures these processes in works that reference and combine the properties of each medium.

'Immediacy' runs from Tuesday, 9 until Thursday, 18 October at Spectrum Project Space.
Opening night event: Thursday, 11 October, 5.00pm - 8.00pm
SPS opening times: Tuesday to Friday 10.00am - 6.00pm, Saturdays from 12.00pm - 5.00pm. Closed Sunday and Monday.
