This key project addresses recent requirements by the agricultural industry to capture real-time agricultural data and provide decision tools to process this information. This research specifically targets sensor development, the ability to use these sensors optimally in a catchment area. The subsequent development of real-time software tools will allow researchers to capture, curate and process this information into a format for easy interpretation and decision making.
This collaborative research project captures knowledge gained from research at ECU, in Australia and internationally to develop a prototype system suitable for evaluation by the agricultural industry. This research area is a key strength of ECU's eAgriculture Research Group and implements several novel approaches to information generation, capture, collation and analysis based on eAgriculture techniques and tools. This research is also intended to be piloted with grain grower groups for evaluation and industry uptake.
