With the reputation as one of the leading digital security and forensic groups in the world, the secau Security Research Centre has emerged as one of Edith Cowan University’s most vital research groups. We offer a range of investigating study areas that deliver immediate and high impact outcomes in the area of computer and digital forensics, network and wireless security, information warfare, physical security, risk management and aviation security.

The group’s principal research areas are directly applicable to digital exploration in the areas of banking finance, private corporations, and national security. With capabilities in data recovery, data protection, access retrieval, RFID tracking proficiencies, and risk and vulnerability assessments, the research centre’s work is in high demand in the ongoing battle to limit and restrict the activities of terrorists, criminals and criminal gangs.

ACS Centre of Excellence in Security

In 2009, the Australian Computer Society established a Centre of Excellence in Security in partnership with the secau Security Research Centre at ECU. The Centre of Excellence establishes a new partnership between ACS, the wider information and communications technology (ICT) industry, academia and government, and recognises establishments setting national standards of performance and enhancing the advance of ICT at an international level.
