The Centre for Research in Early Childhood(CREC) in conjunction with the Department of Child Protection and Family Services (DPCF) have launched a book club project called ‘MirraBOOKa’. The project partners volunteer ECU Pre-service teachers with children currently under the care of DPCF. During Terms 3 and 4, (2014), pre-service teachers will visit a school on a weekly basis for up to one hour at a time, to read and share books with an identified child from K-Yr 3.

The pre-service teachers are keeping a journal, that documents their journey with the child as well as completing pre and post surveys.
