The Pipeline project

This longitudinal study tracked the behaviour and academic performance of over 2,000 students in 29 schools over a four-year period. Four cohorts of students were tracked: Year 2, 4, 6 and 8. Teachers completed behaviour checklists twice each year for each student in their class. The information about behaviour was linked to national assessments in literacy and numeracy. Trajectories of academic performance were mapped according to the categories of student behaviour as reported by teachers. Case studies of individual students with exceptional results were conducted.
