In the last ten years, secondary school students have been encouraged to make use of computers when doing written school tasks. It was useful to investigate how the technology (internet resources and Word Processing software) was used (and, perhaps, abused) by students at various stages of the writing process (e.g., planning, development and editing). Also, this project explored the degree and type of explicit instruction that was given to students using the technology to develop their writing skills. There has been limited recent research in this area, especially in Western Australia.
