The first Asia-Pacific Deans of Education Forum was initiated against the backdrop of a region that is faced with the challenge of meeting the increasing demand of quality teachers in schools.
Leveraging upon the leadership of UNESCO in the Next Generation of Teachers project, this forum aimed to develop a regional policy/practice platform for deans of education, policymakers, school leaders, teachers and pre-service teachers to engage in issues of recruitment and professional development of teachers-to-be. The focus of the forum was partnership; specifically, the partnerships between teacher education institutions and other organisations towards the improvement of the quantity, quality and status of teachers in our schools in the Asia-Pacific region.
