Medium access control protocol for guaranteed quality of service of voice and video in wireless local area networks
The media access control (MAC) layer is responsible for controlling which node of the wireless network is allowed to access the shared channel and how nodes communicate with each other. It is directly responsible for the throughput, delay and jitter characteristics observed at each node.
Many different wireless MAC schemes have been developed to support a wide variety of services whilst trying to ensure that quality of service (QoS) is guaranteed. The existing MAC schemes however, are not efficient in terms of throughput and QoS guarantee.
The aim of this project is to improve throughput and QoS of end applications in wireless communications.
