Occupational respiratory health surveillance at Minara Resources, Murrin Murrin mine site

This longitudinal study was conducted on a cohort of mine and refinery workers at a remote mine site in Western Australia. Spirometry of workers was evaluated over a number of years as well across a swing (time period on site). The research was funded by ECU and Minara Resources as part of an ECU Collaborative research grant. The main findings of the research demonstrated that workers at the mine do not suffer from measureable work induced lung function decrements. However, smoking was found to be a significant factor in lung decrements.
