"Studying Event Management gave me an edge"
"Career change was why I chose to study the Graduate Diploma of Business - Event Management. I wanted to enter my field with strong ground knowledge however Event Management is a field where university study isn’t really necessary. I hoped achieving a post graduate qualification would give me the edge and allow me to enter the industry at a higher level than junior positions (and it has).
As I had completed my undergraduate studies at ECU I explored various options and the units in the Event Management field were more progressive through the business stream offering a balance of theoretical and practical application. I loved doing assignments that were so practical the topics could have come straight from the work place, for instance: creating an event proposal, the product was something I could push forward into an actual event.
ECU’s program is balanced with practical application, it readies students for real life work tasks offering a number of opportunities and links to work experience. There is no better way to create a job opportunity for yourself or industry networks than via work experience.
