Accreditations and alliances
As part of its strategic objectives, the School of Management strives to develop and maintain links with key IT and business organisations.
The main current industry links for the School are:
Australian Computer Society
The Master of Information Systems (MMIS) course is accredited at the professional level by the Australian Computer Society (ACS), the recognised accrediting body for information and communications technology (ICT) courses in Australia.
Accreditation acknowledges the quality assurance processes that are in place in the design, content and delivery of the MMIS course in accordance with ACS requirements.
As a result of the accreditation, students completing the MMIS are eligible to become Provisional Members of ACS immediately and Professional Members after relevant information technology experience of four years.
Australian Human Resources Institute
All Human Resource Management programs in the School of Management are accredited by AHRI - the Australian Human Resources Institute - which is the professional association of human resources personnel in Australia.
Accreditation acknowledges our internal quality assurance processes around planning our courses, that we seek and demonstrate stakeholder input, we monitor outcomes, evaluate feedback, implement changes and look for ways to continuously improve.Accreditation also acknowledges that AHRI believes we are equipping students with the outcomes needed to be an effective human resources practitioner.AHRI has accredited the following School of Management courses:
- Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management);
- Graduate Certificate of Business (Human Resource Management);
- Graduate Diploma of Business (Human Resource Management);
- Master of Human Resource Management.
As a result of the accreditation, students who have completed the AHRI Professional Diploma of Human Resources can gain credit towards studying the above Graduate Human Resource Management qualifications at ECU.
Australian Institute of Project Management
The Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) have endorsed the following School of Management courses:
- Master of Project Management
- Graduate Certificate in Business (Project Management)
Career Industry Council of Australia
In December 2009, the Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA) endorsed the following
School of Management courses for a five year period ending in 2014:
- Graduate Certificate in Career Development
- Master of Career Development
Endorsement means that the courses meet the requirements of the Professional Standards for Australian Career Development Practitioners.
The courses attract postgraduate students from across Australia working as career counsellors, career educators and advisors, life and career coaches, human resources managers, vocational/training coordinators, employment service providers, outplacement consultants, rehabilitation consultants, labour market researchers, athlete career and education advisors, and private career practitioners.
Graduates from either of the ECU career development courses meet, or exceed, the minimum educational criteria required to qualify as a Professional Member of any of the Practitioner Association member organisations of CICA.
Microsoft
An alliance with Microsoft allows the School to use the Microsoft Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applicationDynamics AX (previously known as Axapta) for teaching ERP to students.
We are also able to provide Microsoft Project 2010 to Project Management students for use in scheduling projects.
