Background

Dr Alan Coetzer is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Management and teaches Strategic Human Resource Management, Small Business Management and Leadership, Organisational Behaviour, and Change Management. He has previously taught at Massey University in New Zealand and is an external Research Affiliate of the New Zealand Centre for Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Research.

Alan has delivered several conference papers and published many scholarly articles in international peer-reviewed journals. These include Journal of Small Business Management, Employee Relations, Education & Training, Journal of Workplace Learning, Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development and Journal of Business Ethics. Alan has occupied several management and team leader roles and has been involved in performing a range of HR activities including recruitment, selection, staff development, staff appraisal and pay negotiations with unions.
