Best of the Best compete at ECU
ECU Business Edge students compete in the ‘Best of the Best’ competition.
The Faculty of Business and Law Best of the Best Presentations were held at the Joondalup Campus on Friday, 29 October, with ECU’s Business Edge students competing in teams to be named the ‘Best of the Best’ among their peers.
The teams pitched their ideas for a realistic, viable and profitable business venture in front of industry judges, including General Manager for the Joondalup Business Centre, Mr Glynn Jones, Owner and Manager of Pivot Institute, Ms Elisa Uyen, and Joondalup Business Association Manager, Mr Terry Darby-Smith.
Groups had 10 minutes to pitch and present their ideas in front of the panel, followed by a question posed to the team by the judges, who assessed the group presentations based on innovation and viability.
The successful venture was awarded to ECU students Crystal Avis and Josh Pittard, who suggested that ECU implement a second-hand bookstore for students on campus.
A separate prize was awarded to student Tim Reed, who was recognised by the judges as the best presenter on the day.
Mr Jones congratulated the students on the initiative behind their winning idea.
“The winning group identified a gap in the market and showed a lot of potential,” said Mr Jones.
The winning students were awarded gift vouchers and the title of ‘Best of the Best’ among their Business Edge peers.
Senior Lecturer from the Faculty of Business and Law, Dr Peter Mansfield, congratulated the students on their achievements.
“It was wonderful to see talented students present a number of creative business ideas to the panel of judges and I congratulate all students on their efforts.”
