West Coast Institute of Training Awards

Wednesday, 11 April 2012

The Faculty of Business and Law has again sponsored an award at the recent West Coat Institute of Training (WCIT) Awards Evening, held in late March on the WCIT campus in Joondalup.

WCIT’s annual gala dinner event celebrates the success and achievements of its students, trainers and employees. This year’s event was well attended, with high profile community members, politicians, and business identities. Professor Hugh Wilkins, Dr Clive Reynoldson and Ms Tara Smith represented the Faculty at the event.

The Faculty sponsored the West Coast Way Innovation Award (Trainer), which recognises the outstanding achievements of West Coast trainers who have demonstrated innovation. The honour was awarded to Mr Chad Tilbury, who has been teaching at WCIT’s West Coast Academy of Hospitality and Tourism since 2005.

For the past three years, Chad has also been teaching units in ECU’s Bachelor of Hospitality Management course, blending vocational and university education delivery modes to teach management students the basics of food and beverage service procedures in ECU’s Degrees training restaurant.

As testament to his groundbreaking work with the Hospitality Management students, Chad was also named WCIT’s ‘Trainer of the Year’.
