This course provides immersive simulations where doctors and nurses caring for paediatric patients can practice their Crisis Resource Management skills in dealing with emergency situations.
Patient safety and quality are at the heart of what we do. Studies have shown that a high proportion of adverse incidents in health care are the result of breakdowns in communication or poor teamwork.
Crisis Resource Management (CRM) is: “a management system which makes optimum use of all available resources – people, procedures, equipment – to promote safety and enhance efficiency during a crisis situation.”
The ECU Health Simulation Centre specialises in training in CRM – training in a safe yet realistic environment, using immersive simulation scenarios and debriefing sessions.
Medical Practitioners and Nurses working with acutely unwell children who wish to improve their crisis management and emergency skills in a paediatric environment.
Teams experience hands-on learning in realistic scenarios, followed by debriefing sessions facilitated by a trained CRM practitioner.
Because the emphasis is on learning and sharing information, there is no formal assessment of participants at the end of this course.
