This course will demonstrate the need for effective teamwork in dealing with emergencies that can occur in obstetrics and paediatric anaesthesia.
Patient safety and quality are at the heart of what we do. Studies have shown that a high proportion of adverse incidents in health care are the result of breakdowns in communication or poor teamwork.
Crisis Resource Management (CRM) is: “a management system which makes optimum use of all available resources – people, procedures, equipment – to promote safety and enhance efficiency during a crisis situation.”
The ECU Health Simulation Centre specialises in training in CRM – training in a safe yet realistic environment, using immersive simulation scenarios and debriefing sessions.
This two-day course has been developed for junior anaesthetists, GP anaesthetists, operating theatre nurses and technicians who work with obstetric and/or paediatric patients.
The course offers training in the principles of Crisis Resource Management (CRM), using realistic immersive simulation scenarios followed by debriefing sessions. Scenarios are recorded to highlight the impact of effective team behaviour in a crisis situation.
“The course was very intensive and teachers knowledgeable. Feedback was very useful and informative.”
“Very enthusiastic teachers – makes it engaging.”
