Medical practitioners provide professional advice to the Health and Disability Services Complaints Office (HaDSCO) assessment staff and case managers on medical matters relating to the assessment, conciliation and investigation of health and disability complaints. This includes formulating of appropriate requests for medical information, and recommendations relating to the investigation of complaints, providing explanations of medical terminology, assessment and interpretation of medical records, providing information regarding medications, diagnosis and treatment procedures.
The specified medical officers also research and prepare written medical opinions and reports for HaDSCO and assist in the development of policies and procedures to source and store medical information.
The medical practitioners liaise with professional medical bodies and colleges regarding standards and guidelines for medical and clinical practice.
The medical practitioners on the team have a wide range of medical expertise and experience.
