Raising funds for Parkinson's Western Australia

Parkinson’s Western Australia, a self-help, non-profit organisation, held its inaugural Unity Walk on 12 September 2010. The walk is to raise funds and awareness for Parkinson’s disease. Through online donations and our cake stall, the ParkC team raised over $1,360 for Parkinson’s Western Australia.

The ParkC team threw its full support behind this great initiative of Parkinson’s Western Australia. Any support we can give to help raise awareness and much needed funds gets our vote.

Not only did members of ParkC enrol to participate in the walk its self, but many volunteered on the day and helped with onsite registrations and marshalling. We also raised over $1,000 in online donations.

The enthusiasm and willingness to be involved in the local Parkinson’s community saw the ParkC team set up and run a cake stall. The idea was put forward by Maria Krozcek and she was instrumental in co-ordinating all of the tasks that needed doing in order to put this together. But the entire team pitched in and baked an amazing amount of food that included: diabetic ANZAC biscuits, gingerbread men, lemon/vanilla/chocolate cupcakes, vanilla slices, banana bread, chocolate slice, scones, chocolate cake, and tiramisu. Special mention to Karen who as well as baking, provided the table, the money float, and manned the cake stall all day. It was fantastic to be part of a team that pull together with such a cheerful no-fuss attitude. The ParkC cake stall raised over $360.

ParkC is proud to say that we were able to donate to Parkinson’s Western Australia over $1,360!

Our thanks to all those who donated online and who bought cakes.
